Doula and baby

I was born in Hawthorne, California, I was raised in Durango, Colorado since the age of 3. I can't imagine living in the city, as the mountains are my home!

Spring has always been my favorite season, with the trees turning green, flowers blooming, and babies making their entrance into the world. Nurturing the young, whether it be human or animal, has always been in my nature. There is nothing else like holding a new baby. Their innocence, calming presence, and gentle souls bring a peace to my heart. I was the kid that brought home every stray, fed the feral, and wanted to pet the wild animals. I still love watching all the new babies in the fields, romp around, playing without a care in the world.

As I've grown older, I realized my love for animals was just the beginning of my purpose on Earth. As an adult, I found myself gravitating towards careers that encompass children. As much as I love children, I never saw myself birthing a child. I always wanted to adopt and skip the hard stuff. After meeting and caring for my 3 yr old, "step" daughter ( I don't like using the word step), in my first marriage, my mind and heart would be forever changed! I gave birth to my second daughter in 1996. I couldn't imagine leaving for work every day and leaving the girls behind. I soon opened a home daycare. My ex and I had a son in 1999, and I was lucky enough to stay home with him as well. It was common for me to run errands, take the kids to school, and other activities with my daycare kids in tow. In true Callie nature, my daycare kids became a part of me. Some I am blessed enough to still have relationships with today. I remarried in 2005, after giving birth to, my now husband's, son in 2004. We were then a family of 10 (I never let go of my "step" daughter). Fast forward to 2007, and the most amazing little boy was born. He began as one of my daycare kids, but quickly became part of the family. We officially adopted him in 2012. We are now a family of 11, with a yours, mine, ours, and theirs blend. My mother in law has always joked that I have children in every manner possible, with the exception of kidnapping. THIS is my purpose. Making every child feel welcomed and loved.

Being married to an entrepreneur, caused a slight detour in life, landing me square in the middle of bookkeeping.... I've been a bookkeeper for the past 17 years, and I'm ready to get back to my dreams! Don't get me wrong, bookkeeping has done me right, allowing me to stay home with my kids, and now spend time with my grandchildren. I am very blessed to have the opportunity to have a job where I am in control of my own hours (for the most part), and have time with my family. I am grateful for the clients I currently have, and will continue to work with them. Being a Doula allows me to continue bookkeeping to pay the bills, while still living my dream of supporting people, and helping them in their time of need, all while welcoming new life into the world.

I hope you will allow me to be your (and your partner's) support system during the amazing time of your life.

Welcoming and caring for new life....
